How would you like your heat switch to operate?*

Automatically - I want a passive switch
Under user control - I want an active switch

A passive switch will turn off when the temperature falls below ~10K. An active switch can be turned back on by the user and kept on.

Over what temperature range do you want to use your switch?*

From above 4K (hot end) to 4K (cold end)
From 4K (hot end) to below 4K (cold end)
From below 4K (hot end) to below 1K (cold end)

The design of a heat switch is highly dependent on the temperature extremes of the user application. Our switches typically turn OFF at a temperature of ~10K.

What is most important for your application?*

High ON-state conductance gives rapid cooldown of a hot object. Low OFF-state conductance gives good thermal isolation of a cold object. As a general rule, we cannot achieve BOTH of the above at a reasonable cost.

My priority is a high ON-state
My priority is a low OFF-state
I must have both of these. Please advise.

Can you give us some more information about the masses and materials that you will interface the heat switch to?
