Our GL10 single-shot sorption cooler adds an extra ultracold stage to the GL7. The load buffering provided by this additional stage enables the unit to reach a base temperature below 250mK, with sizeable heat lift capacity at several temperatures points below 4K. It is even possible to add a second ultracold stage to the GL10 to increase the cooling power at the lowest temperature, see an example of the GL10 Twin in the Gallery.

The GL10 is a three-stage, single-shot sorption cooler that designed to interface to a low-power 4K precooler, such as a Gifford-McMahon (GM) cryocooler. It consists of a 1K 4He pre-cooler, a 300mK 3He buffer module, and a 250mK 3He ‘Ultra’ module. A standard 20L/5L/1.25L (4He/3He/3He) GL10 will run for 24 hours under 3µW of thermal load on the 3He ultra cold head at a temperature ≤0.25K. This system can be customised to operate with higher loads and longer run times.
The GL10 has no external gas handling or pumped gas circulation. The sorption cooler only requires electrical connections to the outside of the cryostat. A thermometry box is needed to measure the sensors along with a programable power supply to control the heaters.
